Our journey in faith to adopt this little boy Josiah from China

Josiah, or Yang Heng Hai, was an orphan from China who is a wonderful, patient, sweet, and ingenious little boy who was in need of a family. We felt the Lord calling us to bring this beautiful child into our family, and He provided beautifully. Some people would call Josiah a special needs child. Others, a child with special needs. To us he is just special. Josiah was born without the use of either of his arms and had 2 club feet. However, Josiah has been able to overcome these things and do many amazing things.

Let the paperwork begin

Well we have already filled out mounds of paperwork and we probably haven’t even reached halfway with the amount of paperwork we have left. However before we can move on in the process we have to have a home study. If you don’t know, a home study is where a social worker comes to your home a couple of times and interviews you and your family to make sure that your home and your family meet all of the requirements of adoption for your state, the federal government and the country from which you are adopting. Our adoption agency would like our home study to begin around September 17 and we have to pay all the fees for the study, amounting to $2500, before we can start the interview process. Again we have no human prospect of fulfilling these requirements but we put our boast in the Lord. If this is His work He will provide. The Lord seems to delight in calling people to do His work who are incapable of doing it in their own strength. In this way God will receive all the glory because the people He called cannot boast that they have done any of it themselves. Moses said he couldn’t lead the people out of Egypt but God used him to do exactly that. Gideon was scared and hiding from the enemy using the winepress as a threshing floor yet God called him a mighty man of valor. God took a sheep herder and made him king of Israel . He took uneducated fishermen to confound the wise and turn the world upside down. I do not put our need on this blog in hopes that people will donate but instead I hope that we can all rejoice together when we, “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord,” as He brings this home study to pass. We wait on the One who owns all the gold and silver. It is our hope that as our faith is built up through this calling that God has laid on our hearts that in turn it would also build up the faith of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
